As we approach the warmer weeks of the Summer Term, we are writing to remind you of our updated uniform expectations at BOA Digital. Maintaining a smart appearance is an important part of our school ethos, and your support at home is vital in ensuring our high standards are upheld.

I emailed earlier in the week regarding the forthcoming industrial action being taken by one of the professional bodies representing teaching staff. I am now able to confirm that I will have to partially close the school on Tuesday 2^nd May.

Children must arrive for school at 11am on Tuesday. Lessons will run from this period for all of the children and timings for the remainder of the day will be as normal.

Election of parent governors.

We have vacancies for two parents to serve on the Academy Governing Board of this academy. We are keen to encourage parents and people with parental responsibility of registered pupils to put themselves forward for this role.

Parent governors are elected by other parents and are vital to our governing body. They share equally with other governors the responsibility for carrying out a wide range of responsibilities. Governors do not run the academy day to day, as their role is of a more strategic level at the academy. You do not have to be an expert on education to be a governor, and we do value the experience that all governors bring to the role. If you are interested in applying for a governor position, please complete an application and nomination form.

If you join our local advisory board, you will serve a four-year term with a review after the first year. Being a governor does take up time. There are three local advisory board meetings each year. You will need to set aside time to be able to be an effective governor; time to prepare for meetings, for visiting the academy, undertaking training and attending academy functions.

To find out more about what being a trustee at this academy is like, you can contact Philip Thickett, Chair of Trustees or Jonnie Turpie who is also a trustee, and they will be very willing to answer any questions.

If you would like to take the opportunity to put yourself forward as a candidate, you may only do so by completing an official application and nomination form, so please download one from our website or collect one from reception. The completed form must be returned to the academy by 4:15pm on Tuesday 4^th October. Further details about the process are in the attached information sheet.

Please remember to bring the following with you:
 a signed copy of the Home Agreement in this pack and a pencil case with standard school stationery. No PE kit will be required. We will give you the school bag on this day. Come in full academy uniform.
