Red Weather Warning - School Closure

See attached below a letter that went out to parents on Tuesday 23rd June 2026 regarding the school closure following the Red Weather warning.

A Red Weather Warning is the highest level of weather alert and indicates a significant risk to health and safety, alongside the potential for considerable disruption to public services and transport networks. Whilst we do not take the decision to close the academy lightly, the safety and wellbeing of our students, families, and staff must remain our highest priority.

In reaching this decision, we have carefully considered a number of factors. Many of our students travel significant distances to attend the academy, often relying on public transport for their journeys. The forecast temperatures, coupled with the potential for transport disruption and prolonged exposure to extreme heat, present an unacceptable level of
risk for students and staff travelling to and from the academy.

As a digital school, we are well positioned to move learning online when required. Learning will continue remotely during the closure, with work set via Microsoft Teams for the subjects’ students would normally have on the day of closure.
