Culture Day at BOA Digital: Celebrating Culture That Connects Us All

On Friday 22nd May 2026, BOA Digital Technologies Academy will host its annual Culture Day, a celebration of the diversity, identity and heritage that make up our school community. This year’s theme, Culture connects us all, will run throughout the day as students and staff come together to share, learn and celebrate one another.
The day will provide students with the opportunity to explore culture in a variety of meaningful and creative ways, both inside and outside the classroom.
Students are invited to attend school in traditional or cultural dress, with guidance in place to ensure this is done respectfully and appropriately. Throughout the day, a wide range of activities will take place, including:
- Extended form time sessions where teachers will share aspects of their own culture and heritage
- A specially themed lunchtime menu reflecting global influences
- Culture-themed lessons across the curriculum, exploring how culture connects to different subject areas
- A lunchtime photo booth for students to capture and celebrate their outfits
- An African drumming workshop led by Mr France
Culture Day is designed to encourage curiosity, respect and understanding, while giving students the opportunity to celebrate their own backgrounds and learn more about the experiences of others within the BOA Digital community.
Dress expectations
Students are welcome to wear:
- Modest or smart traditional clothing that represents their own culture or heritage.
- A shirt or T-shirt representing a nation linked to their culture or heritage, worn with normal school uniform trousers or skirt and school shoes.
Students are not permitted to:
- Attend in casual non-uniform clothing, as this is not a non-uniform day.
- Wear revealing clothing, such as crop tops or short skirts.
- Wear clothing from cultures or religions they do not personally belong to, as cultural appropriation is not appropriate and will be taken seriously.
Culture Day is an important opportunity to celebrate identity and inclusion within BOA Digital, and to recognise the value of every culture within our community. We look forward to a vibrant and respectful day of learning, sharing and celebration.
