Director of Science

BOA Digital Technologies Academy is seeking to appoint an exceptional Director of Science to join a committed team, working alongside staff and leaders to drive excellence in teaching and learning across the academy. The role will be based at BOA Digital Technologies Academy, with opportunities to collaborate across other BOA Group academies in central Birmingham.
As Director of Science, the postholder will play a pivotal role at the heart of the academy’s academic success, leading the development of a high-quality, ambitious and knowledge-rich Science curriculum across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. This is a role for an outstanding leader and classroom practitioner who is committed to raising standards, modelling excellence, and developing colleagues to deliver exceptional teaching and learning
This is a crucial appointment at a significant stage in the academy’s development. The successful candidate will play a key role as the school prepares to welcome its first Year 11 cohort in September 2026 and looks ahead to the launch of a specialist Sixth Form in September 2027, with a strong focus on STEM and science-related pathways.
The Director of Science will be instrumental in shaping an ambitious Key Stage 4 and Post-16 offer, ensuring clear and meaningful progression routes into further education, higher education and careers within science, healthcare, engineering, technology and wider STEM sectors.
The successful candidate will champion a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement, using evidence-informed approaches to enhance teaching and learning. Through strategic leadership, coaching and collaborative working, they will inspire colleagues and ensure that all students develop strong scientific knowledge, analytical thinking, investigative skills and confidence in practical science.

salary: leadership pay scale 4 - 7 (£55,747 - £60,145 per year)
